about me
I love to create everyday objects that are beautiful to touch, hold and use - this is what lies at the heart of Lucy Jane Ceramics.

I was born in London, England and moved to Sydney in 2012, where I worked predominantly in media. I was first drawn to the pottery wheel as an escape from the humdrum of the office desk and city life. And since I never really considered myself a true city girl, I followed my love of the outdoors and hunger for creative inspiration straight out of Sydney to the mountains.
Now I'm based in Bright in the Victorian high country, where I enjoy playing with texture, form, line and colour to create functional objects that celebrate the small moments and details that can often pass us by. I'm constantly exploring the nature of the clay and take inspiration from my surroundings in order to take my work somewhere new.
For me, the process is everything. In every object, I like to leave a subtle trace – a fingerprint or mark – that takes you back to the slow and intricate process of hand making. Although each piece is beautiful and unique, my art isn't intended for display; the work I create is for you to hold and use every day.
So much of my inspiration comes from my local area - the changing seasons, the mountains and valleys, and a life lived in Bright. The valleys of my home are filled with lots of creatives who draw on their own experiences of life here to produce beautiful art.
